Daiso Japan Charcoal Peel Off Mask

Daiso Japan Charcoal Peel Off Mask

Daiso Japan Charcoal Peel Off Mask $6.49 from Amazon

Hey Everyone!

I have been neglecting my skin lately due to a sporadic schedule and exploring Australia. However, I did bring a few beauty goodies with me during my big move overseas, and told my partner about this amazing Daiso Japan Charcoal Peel Off Mask I had with me. He’s so sweet and lets me do super fun skincare treatments on him. It’s so satisfying peeling off a tight mask and discovering the yucky stuff hiding in your skin, and that’s exactly what this product does!

Daiso Japan Charcoal Peel Off Mask is very effective, easy to peel off (I hate it when peel off masks are weak and messy) and I’m able to see what exactly was extracted from my face! I highly recommend this product and will be adding it to my regimen. Hey, despite me not tending to my skin as diligently as I should be lately, I’m at least protecting my skin from the strong Australian summer sun by wearing an  SPF of 50! So remember, even if you skip a few things in your skincare routine due to being busy, lazy or both, please protect your skin from the harsh sun!

Back to the pack… it’s amazing and under $7.00 USD! The consistency of this mask is a little goopy and smooth. I apply a liberal amount to my entire face and check my social media updates while it dries, tightens and sucks out the grime from my skin. My only complaint is the smell. It can be a bit astringent, and wish it wasn’t, so keep that in mind! Once it starts to dry it is fragrance free, but while applying it is a little unsettling.

What are some of your favorite skincare products? I love skincare supplies that are heavy in charcoal. It brightens your complexion and does an amazing job at cleansing your skin without being too harsh.

Lolita Pastel Goth and Doll-Like Makeup Tips for your 30’s

Hey Everyone!

I recently started posting YouTube videos and have a series dedicated to Beauty and Skincare. I love sharing my tips on how to tend to your skin when you’re around my age, and am happy to help in any way I can. Here are a few makeup tips I use to give myself the appearance of a more of a fresh-faced and alert woman. I hope you enjoy these tips and if you have any questions feel free to contact me. I’ll do my absolutely best to help!

Lolita Pastel Goth and Doll-Like Makeup Tips for your 30's Lolita Pastel Goth and Doll-Like Makeup Tips for your 30's

  1. Brown Liner and Mascara – Black liner can weigh down your eyes and give you the appearance of looking tired, which aids in you looking older. On most days, I opt for brown liners and mascaras to give myself a little lift! I love Dolly Wink liner and mascara. They’re really affordable Japanese products and very well made! I use them every single day and recommend them.

     2. Avoid Pink and Red Shadows – I don’t like to wear these colors around my eyes since they make me look exhausted. It’s not a look I can pull off and like to stick to very light, cool toned neutrals. I’ve been using the Too Faced Natural Eyes pallet for over a year now and use it just about every single day! It’s perfect for any skin tone and there are is a nice variety of silky and matte textures. This is hands down my favorite shadow!

   3. BB Creams are Better than Foundation – I am a firm believer in BB Creams! Since my first time I have not looked back. The world of foundation no longer exists for me because BB creams are light in formula, fortified with skin friendly ingredients and give me a natural and dewy finish. I love Maybelline BB Fresh because they offer a range of BB’s for many skin tones, not just fair like mine. Most Japanese and Korean products are marketed for women with fair skin, but this American brand is great. It was my first BB and I used it religiously up until I started reviewing Japanese and Korean Skincare products.

Lioele Dollish CC Cream Review

Lioele Dollish CC Cream Review

Lioele Dollish CC Cream

I’m super excited to share my Lioele Dollish CC Cream Review with you all today! I absolutely love trying out BB and CC creams and giving some thorough feedback on what works and what doesn’t for my skin type. Please keep in mind that I am extremely fair complected and have normal to dry skin. Lioele Dollish CC Cream was my first CC I tried about a year ago and it took a while for me to get used to the texture and weight of the actual product.

Lioele Dollish CC Cream ReviewLioele Dollish CC Cream ReviewLioele Dollish CC Cream Review

The formula is very cream based and as you massage it into your skin, it oxidizes and adjusts to your skin tone (or close to it at least). Since it’s very creamy it tends to feel a little heavy at first and was a little too shiny for me, despite loving the ‘wet skin’ look which is pretty popular in Korea at the moment. I took a little translucent powder and lightly dabbed it onto my skin so I didn’t look washed out with a greasy hue. This also helped set the CC cream as well. In my experience, unlike BB cream, CC cream seems a little closer to foundation and I tend to need a little setting powder when I wear it. When I wear BB cream. I don’t need a finishing powder.

Lioele Dollish CC Cream Review

I loved the overall finish using Lioele Dollish CC Cream, but I could feel it on my skin. I am currently in Australia, which is extremely humid, and I don’t think I’d feel comfortable wearing it outside during the summer. Even when I was back in California, which is pretty dry and mild, this product felt a little too heavy for me. The application is super smooth and silky, and the product itself is really good quality, but I think I’ll keep this stuff in my beauty arsenal to use for future beauty posts. The finish is beautiful but not practical for someone like myself who tends to be a bit fussy about makeup. I love a light application of makeup and a fresh dewy look, but unfortunately I felt a bit weight down.

Lioele Dollish CC Cream:

Pros:

Cons:

Healthy Habits for Youthful Skin to Adopt in Your 30’s

Healthy Habits for Youthful Skin to Adopt in Your 30's

Me at age 32

Hey Everyone!

I get asked often what my secrets are to looking younger than I am. I don’t try to dress, act or carry myself in a younger manner, but I guess when you’re young at heart and a little eccentric you feel younger and perhaps that emulates your appearance. This doesn’t mean I got to dodge the skin obstacles those of us in our late 20’s and 30’s face. I also embrace my age. It’s important to have a healthy mindset about aging. When I was in my 20’s I was really obsessed with preventing any signs of aging. Especially since my mom looks no where near her age. I wanted to be like her a lot, but she also took really great care of her skin and health through the years. I had to learn to accept my flaws and maintain a healthy glow from the inside out with diet and a more positive outlook.

I don’t spend a dreadful time in front of the mirror prepping my skin or wearing lbs of makeup to cover my age, but with a few healthy habits I’ll share with you what I do to appear a bit more youthful.

Healthy Habits for Youthful Skin to Adopt in Your 30's

Diet – I drink plenty of water, antioxidant loaded green tea and enjoy treats such as polyphenol-packed seaweed snacks as a part of my mostly plant based diet. I am overweight and not by any means a health nut (but I love super inspiring health nuts) but I do make an effort to make better choices. I also enjoy raw almond butter and chia seed jelly on whole wheat bread, which are loaded with healthy fats and anitioxidants. All important for a healthy heart, supple complexion and fighting free radicals which stresses out your skin.

Exercise – I have a love/hate relationship with exercise. Sometimes I love it and feel focused and consistent, then I go through periods where I hate it and want to eat pizza and play video games. When I feel like this, I go for a walk. I’ll go to my local gas station or servo station when I’m in Australia, and pick up a few healthier alternatives to snack foods. If I’m buying junky stuff, portion control babies! Exercise stimulates blood flow, which is super important for a healthy glow and collagen production.

Smoking – I was a smoker in my 20’s and am extremely happy I quit. I did develop fine lines near my mouth which started to form in my late 20’s. I’m not trying to sound preachy, but smoking is horrible for your health and less important, your vanity. Let’s be real though. Your skin is a mirror of your health. What you put into your body will show up on your skin.

Sun – When I head outdoors, I ALWAYS wear sunblock/sunscreen. I am obsessed with SkinFood’s Tomato Whitening Finisher with SPF 50. If I’m not in a makeup mood, I at least apply this to my skin. I’m either under a bright Californian sun or an aggressive Australian sun, both which can be pretty harsh if you don’t manage your skincare.

tumblr_n986lsgc0q1t1jjweo1_500

Mentality – We all struggle with body image issues from time to time. Even the girl you think is perfect and has everything going for her has issues with her appearance at some point. It’s important to remind yourself that you are beautiful, and not expected to be perfect. However, keep in mind it’s also important to take small steps daily to be healthy on the inside and out. Whether you struggle with your weight, or have scars, stretch marks, thinning hair, or whatever. Remember that your value isn’t based on how great you look. Your value is on how good you feel about yourself and how you treat yourself and others.

I like to get up and go for a walk, and make an extra healthy meal, drink a green juice or treat myself to a pedicure when I’m feeling gross and horrible. It may seem silly but once you get into the habit of this you’ll start to feel good physically and mentally.

I hope this advice helps! I’ll be writing a post on kawaii makeup tricks for your late 20’s and 30’s soon, as well as my skincare regimen since I get asked a lot what I use and what my routine is like.

Holika Holika Aqua Petite Jelly BB Cream Review

Aqua Petite Jelly BB Cream – $12.89  from Amazon

Hey Everyone,

I have been anticipating this review for Holika Holika Aqua Petite Jelly BB Cream for quite some time now. This BB cream is suitable for pale skin ( I am extremely fair skinned) and unfortunately only found this BB cream in two shades, #1 which is a light-warm beige and #2, which I have, which is more of a cool tone for fair skin. Holika Holika Aqua Petite Jelly BB Cream Review

This BB cream is so hyped in South Korea and is one of their top sellers, so I was really excited to try it out for myself. The texture reminds me of pudding; it’s light, smooth, fluffy, and blends very well. It is virtually fragrance free as well and the packaging is absolutely adorable! I love the flower shaped glass bottle and sturdy screw on lid.

When I was still living in California, I wasn’t thrilled with this product to be honest because the air their is dry, and my skin is normal-dry. So wearing it on it’s own felt a bit tight on my face. I did mix it with Etude House’s Nymph Aura serum, which is another fantastic product, especially if you’re trying to achieve the wet skin look which is a huge beauty trend in South Korea.

Holika Holika Aqua Petite Jelly BB Cream Review

Now that I’m settled in Queensland, Australia, where it’s extremely humid, I wear a light layer of Aqua Petite Jelly BB Cream and finish with a setting spray, Urban Decay’s All Nighter, and my makeup lasts all day. I’m happy I tested this BB cream out for a few months and in different climates to get an overall idea of how well this product was formulated since it is such a huge brand and product in South Korea.

Holika Holika Aqua Petite Jelly BB Cream:

Pros:

heart favicon ksc Affordable at $12.89 USD

heart favicon ksc Cute & Sturdy Packaging

heart favicon ksc Long Lasting Coverage

heart favicon ksc SPF 20

heart favicon ksc Even Coverage

Holika Holika Aqua Petite Jelly BB Cream Review

Overall, the coverage is fantastic, color is perfect for fair complexions like mine and if need be, you could adjust the product if the formula is a bit dry for your skin type. I will definitely consider purchasing this BB Cream in the future again, but I do have many more products to try out for the Beauty section of AmbyCakes.

L’Oreal Miss Manga Mascara Review

L'Oreal Miss Manga Mascara Review

LOreal Miss Manga Mascara in Brown Black – $6.27 from Amazon

Hey Everyone!

I purchased this mascara a while back and posted photos on my Instagram, and somehow it got lost in my sea of kawaii makeup that I had set aside to review for you guys. Now that I’ve been getting settled in Australia, I figured it was time to pull it out and give it a test run.

I will say I was really excited to try this American mascara because of the adorable packaging, and a lot of us do wish to achieve the doll-eyed look we see in manga. I’m in my 30’s and love to emulate anime aesthetic with my makeup on a much more toned down level and am constantly seeking products that will help me achieve this. Although I still wear black mascara, I do tend to lean toward brown/black or brown these days since it can really lift weight from your eyes and prevents your eyes from looking too tired, so I grabbed the Miss Manga Mascara in brown/black (pink packaging).

L'Oreal Miss Manga Mascara Review

When I opened the mascara tube I was really confused at the pivoting and extremely flexible brush head. It seemed a bit loose and the product was caked onto the bristles so it was sort of disappointing so I already had a bad feeling about this product. I warmed up the mascara in my hand by rubbing the tube between my palms for about 30 seconds thank you, Michelle Phan because after hearing her tips on this I’ve been using the same technique to warm up my mascara and it usually works.

Unfortunately, it didn’t work so well this time. The mascara was really clumpy and the flimsy brush made applying it very difficult. I could hardly get any product onto my lashes and when I did a second coat, it started to clump pretty noticeably. This mascara is so bad, I don’t think I’d keep it for backup or tutorial makeup. I like to use up my makeup products since I invest so much money to review them and even if the product isn’t comfortable, I’ll use them for photos and such or other projects.

L'Oreal Miss Manga Mascara Review

The mascara smears off easily as well but at least it did not irritate my eyes so I WILL emphasize and praise LOreal for that because I’ve tried amazing looking and feeling mascaras that have wrecked my eyes when I’d cry or wash makeup off.

The Miss Manga Mascara was so poorly formulated that I had to toss it out. I was really disappointed in too many things about this product. I have tried a lot of things by LOreal that I’ve loved, and some that I’ve hated. This bad review isn’t a reflection on my feelings toward the company, but with this product solely. I won’t bother buying the LOreal Miss Manga in black to review because there is absolutely no point.

L'Oreal Miss Manga Mascara Review

Miss Manga did nothing for my lashes. I lacked volume and didn’t feel like my eye makeup was complete. However, I did enjoy reviewing this product and was anticipating this post. If you would like to try LOreal Miss Manga Mascara in Brown/Black, you can purchase it HERE.  Hopefully your experience is much better than mine, but I personally would not recommend this product.

LOreal Miss Manga Mascara:

Pros:

heart favicon ksc Low Price Point – under $7.00

heart favicon ksc Gentle Formula – did not irritate my eyes

Cons:

REALBEL Black Charcoal Foam Face Wash

REALBEL Black Charcoal Foam Face Wash

REALBEL Charcoal Foaming Face Wash $6.30 by Amazon

Hi Everyone!

I noticed I haven’t posted a face wash review in quite some time, and have been using this amazing product by REALBEL for the past month and a half and had to share my thoughts on here. No, the packaging isn’t super kawaii like most of the beauty products and cosmetics that I share in the Beauty section of AmbyCakes, but this face wash is so fantastic I had to tell you all about it.

First off, the price point is fantastic at just a little over $6.00, for the quality of this product and it’s packaging, it’s well worth it! The charcoal brightens my skin tone immediately and leaves my face feeling extremely clean. I love charcoal based skincare products in general and am usually really satisfied, so I definitely recommend them if you come across any by brands you trust!

The REALBEL Charcoal Foaming Face Wash is light in formula too and lathers really well. It’s pretty satisfying. I always recommend lathering a face wash into your skin for about one minute then rinsing for another. I know some women in Korean claim that the best technique is to cleanse for one minute and rinse for four, but that seems a bit much for me.

I hope you enjoy this charcoal face wash and feel free to leave feedback! I just had to share this really affordable and well-rounded product. By far one of my favorite face washes I’ve tried!

REALBEL Charcoal Foaming Face Wash:

Pros:

heart favicon ksc Effective

heart favicon ksc Gentle

heart favicon ksc Quality Packaging

heart favicon ksc Amazing Price Point

heart favicon ksc Light Forumla

Cons:

tumblr_lkl6q24eyw1qfamg6 No Fragrance (for me it is a little bit of a letdown but I’m sure it’s not for many)

NESURA Deep Charcoal Pore Strip Review

NESURA Deep Charcoal Pore Strip Review

Hi Everyone!

I am a HUGE fan of pore strips and products to get rid of blackheads and keep pores on my nose as small as possible. I’ve tried so many products from the East that I’ve absolutely adored in the process. One of my favorite pore strip products is by NESURA. Their Deep Charcoal Pore Strips are effective, efficient, do not have a foul smell, and you can definitely see the results once the strip is dried. I also love how it isn’t awkwardly shaped too!

NESURA is really affordable too! Only $7.50 for a pack of 10! I order these on a consistent basis because I love them so much. I definitely plan on trying more pore strips gels and exfoliants, but for now, these are a staple!

The only complaint I’d add is, like all pore strips I’ve tried, you get a little residual that you need to wash off with warm water. I can’t find anything else to really complain about, and am aware at how common this is.

NESURA Deep Charcoal Pore Strips:

Pros:

heart favicon ksc Effective! They work great even on well maintained skin

heart favicon ksc Neutral Scent

heart favicon ksc Affordable! $7.50 for a pack of 10 on Amazon
